Today, my family bid farewell to a cousin who recently, unexpectedly, passed away.
He was dearly loved and is sorely missed. He was a great man. He loved his family, his mom, his nieces and nephews, his friends. He loved us.
He was real. He kept it real. It didn’t matter who was around. He was never anything less than himself.
He was a father figure, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, a coworker.
He was described a loving, hard-working, caring, and loyal. He was a family man even though he had no children himself.
We said goodbye to him today. But that’s wrong.
It should be, “We’ll see you soon.”
Because we will.
